DIY Winter’s Lip Balm

Vegan & Moisturizing for Soft, Smooth Lips

Say goodbye to dry, cracked lips with this easy, vegan-friendly Winter’s Lip Balm recipe!

Packed with nourishing oils like avocado oil and fractionated coconut oil, plus a refreshing touch of peppermint essential oil, this lip balm will keep your lips soft and moisturized all season long. Perfect as a homemade gift or a stocking stuffer!

Yields: 7 Small Lip Balm Tins (about 90mL total)

Ingredients:

Optional:

  • 5 drops Stevia, for a sweeter taste *

Instructions:

  1. Melt the Oils: In a double boiler (or a metal measuring cup placed in a pot of hot water), combine the candelilla wax, coconut oil, and avocado oil. Heat on low until the mixture is fully melted and smooth.
  2. Add Essential Oils: Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the peppermint essential oil for a cooling, soothing scent.
  3. Pour Into Tins: Carefully wipe any water off the bottom of the pot. Pour the warm oil mixture into small metal tins, being careful not to let water drip into the balm.
  4. Set and Label: Let the lip balm cool and set completely. Once cooled, label your tins if desired.

Tips:

Fixing Fast Set: If the balm hardens too quickly, gently reheat the mixture in your measuring cup until it's pourable again.

Customize Consistency: To make the lip balm softer, reduce the candelilla wax to 1.5 tbsp instead of 2 tbsp.

* Sweeten It: Add 5 drops of liquid stevia to the warm mixture for a lightly sweet flavor.
